Re:Create – The Fashion School’s Annual Fashion Show (Formerly known as “Portfolio”)

The Fashion Show Student Producers for 2010

The student fashion show producers met this weekend to sort out a number of details regarding this year’s annual show.  This year promises to be a great one with all of the thoughtful changes, which are based on supporting deeper learning opportunities for the students in The Fashion School, allowing the them to own all the decisions for the presentation, and to take responsibility for making it happen!

Here is some useful information that they have determined recently:

  • The theme/title for this year’s show will be “The Fashion School presents ‘Re:Create’ – the Annual Fashion Show (formerly known as Portfolio)
  • The show will be on Saturday, April 24th at 8:30pm in Cartwright Auditorium
  • While the student producers are completely responsible for producing the show, The Fashion School will continue to host and organize the Annual Fashion Show Fundraising Dinner in Rockwell Hall on April 24th, prior to the show. (more information will be posted soon)
  • In conjunction with the student production team, we are determining the best methods for hosting a dessert reception in Rockwell Hall following for students who have had work accepted into the show
  • Instead of hosting an Honor’s Brunch on the day following the show, The Fashion School will be inviting all students who have received our competitive Fashion School scholarships this year to be our guests at the fundraising dinner, so that they might be able to meet the donors who have sponsored their awards
  • Monday, March 15, 2010 at noon will be the deadline for submissions of student work. There will be sheets to fill out for submissions and they will be collected at a table by the Merchandise Committee.
  • March 19, 2010 will be the jury review day
  • Any student work can be submitted as long as it was generated in a classroom
  • A faculty instructor’s signature will be needed for submissions.
  • Every submission will need to be color coded according to the following categories:
    • Senior collections
    • Menswear
    • Children’s wear
    • Eveningwear/bridal
    • Swimwear
    • Sportswear
    • One-of-a-kind
    • 2 Dimensional Work
